Is Kilauea Volcano in Hawaii about to erupt?

Tourists from all across the world are visiting Volcano National Park on the Big Island of Hawaii. The visitors center issued an alert.

An orange alert was issued this afternoon on the Island of Hawaii warning there was a chance for the Kilauea volcano to erupt:

Kīlauea volcano is not erupting. Increased earthquake activity and changes in the patterns of ground deformation at Kīlauea’s summit began occurring in the early morning of January 5, 2022, indicating the movement of magma in the subsurface.

At this time, it is not possible to say with certainty if this activity will lead to an eruption; the activity may remain below ground. However, an eruption in Kīlauea’s summit region, within Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park and away from infrastructure, is one potential outcome.
